Hi all, I am looking at buying a passenger side door lock actuator for my 2001 Quattro Coupe from a company called carpartsdirect.com who sell direct and via ebay under listing 171717261020 for £45 delivered rather than use a second hand part (Micro switched have gone). aware you can change the switches just don't have a garage and need to exchange in one go.

They say its compatible with Audi part numbers 8E1 837 015D and 8N1 837 015B

Firstly has anyone bought one and what was the quality like?

They keep asking me for the original part number of mine, don't really want to have to strip the door and take it out to get hold of what's fitted so wondered if anyone could confirm the part number fitted to the passenger side to save me taking it apart. I thought it was 8E1 837 015 not sure what difference the B or D means on the end.

Sorry if I am asking something stupid.

I've ordered these to cure micro switch problem. Hope it's not too complicated to fit.
Keep us posted on how you get on KTB, could be a cheap fix for a common problem.

Not been in the door yet and looked, is there one micro switch that drops the window and signals on the pod?
As mine doesn't do either. If I can get away with just changing it I will. :p
More than handy with a screw driver just didn't want to bodge it. The part I was looking at the company don't feel me with any faith that it fits as they seem to think the TT has a slightly different part number when it doesn't.

Hi, This is the switch that wears/fails & signals that the door is open/closed & raises/lowers window when opening/closing door.

yep one switch does all lol
saves you dough too! :)
from memory you will need......
a small pokey stick (i used a small allen key) to release the cover
an allen key to release the bolt for the door card
an appropriate spline / star bit to get the lock out (although some have reported success using a similar but incorrect torx bit!)
wire cutters / crimps
something to armour the switch (folded and hammered curry takeaway ali foil worked for me!)
