Warranty woes

So. Got an '09 plate TTS roadster in July of this year from Audi and so it included their extended warranty. The warranty apparantly is provided by Mondial group.

I luv the car but I've had issues with it since purchase. 2 months after the purchase, i started hearing a clicking sound on gear change. Turned out a flap had gone in the exhaust system and surprise surprise, it wasn't covered by their warranty. After weeks of back and forth telephone calls, with me personally having to speak with the branch managers at both my local and source Audi, they eventually covered the costs of the repair after initially asking me to fork out the ÂŁ1200 repair job

Now 2 weeks ago, when we initially started having the heavy flood type rain, my speakers suddenly stopped working one morning followed by a nasty burning smell in the car. Took it to Audi and just before the weekend, go a call saying they have found the problem. There is a leak under the aerial base on the boot lid. This has led to the amplifier suffering major water damage

Now initially i didn't panic, as i assumed this had to be covered by warranty. How could it be through any fault of contribution of the driver? But of course, got a call today and i'm not covered. Repair cost of ÂŁ1300:rolleyes:

So, where do i stand. What do you guys think. Do i fight it? Are they justified? Surely not?
Would i be better off getting the amplifier somewhere else?
It's almost as if the car wasn't fit for sale in the first place with these problems!

How would the experienced members on here handle this?

So what are peoples thoughts. Do they think this should all be covered under warranty? What would people suggest then. If they refuse to go ahead, should i give them the finger and go to an independant place and get an amplifier fitted seperately?

Amp isnt covered by extended warranty. I had exactly that same a few months ago, out of warranty but took out extended. ÂŁ750 for new amp. I was onto all sorts of Audi people at CS and branch and got absolutely nowhere!

You can go down the route of poor design in terms of keeping water out, but they wont listen. The bose amp is renowned for being shit and breaking at the first sight of water. Audi should have either fixed this by now, or accept the poor design and not force customers to pay such a stupid price for an amp!

So collected my second TT a week ago, 2 days into ownership, the amp breaks.... replaced under initial warranty. But its just laughable!

The amp may not be under warranty, but the fact that the body work leaks surely is? If the leak causes more damage then they should put that right under the same warranty.

To take it away from cars for a while to demonstrate the point. if you go and buy yourself a new washing machine, and due to a proven manufacturing fault the machines blows up causing damage to your kitchen and flooding your house in the process, the manufacturer doesn't just get the bill for the new washing machine, but also for the damage caused by the faulty machine to the rest of your property.

So, this car has a warranty that covers the bodywork against leakage. His body work has leaked and this has caused an electrical fault. By logic they are not fixing the electrical fault because it is there, they are fixing the leak and all associated damage caused by it.

You may be surprised how often this logic will work against the argument of "sorry mate, that's not covered"...

Agree with above comments, failure of one component has led to the failure of another. It is now down to how much you want to push it, by now, I would have letters to the Dealer Principle, Audi CS, and then if that fails, consulting either CAB or a free solicitor.

You will get a result here as long as the aerial was the OEM fitment if you are determined. You have had it 5 months, and obviously the part was faulty or has developed a fault since purchase, and you would not expect failure of a water seal on the aerial base in a 3 year old car, let alone the other fact that the amp has been mounted in a position where failure of that seal could lead to premature failure of an electrical item. Ie the amp.

So ultimately you are looking at premature failure of a component and an amp that is not protected from water ingress should that other part fail......so shite design too.
