akspeedo used to sell 'Audi TT A3 A4 A6 Jaeger Speedo Fuel Temp Pointer Motors' on ebay. These could be used to repair faulty fuel gauge readings, something my car is suffering from. He is not advertising that part on ebay or his website any more. Anyone know where I can get one? Don't want to pay ÂŁ150 for a dash repair when i can buy a ÂŁ15 part and DIY it.

I know this is a very old thread but thanks to Kevin_tt I was finally able to purchase a stepper motor for my TT fuel gauge.
I've lost count of the number of companies who would repair my dashpod but refused to sell me the part!!
I can't be without the car for a week while I send the dashpod it away to be fixed.
Also a repair would cost around ÂŁ100, I've already had the LCD replaced for ÂŁ150 so I don't fancy shelling out similar money again just to replace the fuel gauge. The part has only cost me ÂŁ19.98 inc P&P. It doesn't look like a difficult job to fit either and Keith at AKSpeedo has given me some tips.
Fingers crossed and hopefully I'll have a working gauge again and not have to start messing with the senders.

Cheers,

Steve

Some help maybe.

Only additional bit and pain is pay attention to how the piece of vinyl fits before disassembly as I didn't and not sure it's quite right on refitting.

Doesnt look that hard tbh, I dont have VCDS to tell the dash to point to certain values tho...

The small needles rest on the surround , remove it and the drop further, how will you guess?

Brilliant video! Thanks for that Wak, every little bit helps. I will make a special note of how the vinyl fits.
Using VCDS to put the gauges into the diagnostic position was something I hadn't thought of yet it's so obvious. I was going to wait until the tank was nearly empty. Hopefully this could be a job for the weekend. I'm just waiting for the motor to arrive now. I'll update when it's done
Cheers,
Steve.

N.B. 40 minutes after posting the motor arrived and what a tiny little thing it is. The close up pics definitely gave a different impression. 10 out of 10 to AKSpeedo for a very rapid service. Just got to find the time to fit it now

What about the guarantee on your central display fix?
Will it be voided if you open the case?
Was it one of those ones where.."we found with just replacing the dis ,other bits started failing soon after. So now we check /revitalise the whole dashpod unit and give a lifetime guarantee(to the original purchaser of the service)" or not?.
