Hi Folks,
seems like we are all cleaning and polishing our cars for the big day at Gaydon :p
I've been cleaning and polishing and all's lookin good except for the tyres.
I have seen lots of dressing products etc and they all say "wet look " which is not really what i want . Does anyone know of a product that will clean up the tyres with out the shine ?

Thanks
:p

Wax your tyres with common or garden black shoe polish such as Kiwi or Cherry Blossom etc. Put it on like you do your shoes, brush off the excess and buff with a tough cloth like denim. It makes the rubber look like new (sort of satin black) rather than look like it's got a layer of gloss paint on it and it protects the surface from contamination and oxidation. Some tyre products make your alloys sticky - wax doesn't and it's a darn site cheaper  The tyre product manufacturers don't want you to of course

I use meguiars, in the purple bottle. I put it on with the sponge that meguiars do. Its good, and it can be rubbed into the sidewall lettering with the sponge.

Lasts for weeks, not days!

True, I dont have to apply at every wash!

The speed detailer they do is good, esp if you have prepped your car for a show, then had to drive there, you can quickly wipe it over in 5 mins.

Can't remember - it's a while since I did it.

Do you think I should set up a shoe shine stand at Gaydon? :p
