I'm guessing not.
Audi makes carrier bars for both models, 8J8071126 for the MK2 and 8S8071126 for the MK3.

Dimensions are close but but everything is just a bit different. If the racks were universal you could probably adjust the fitting to suit. Unfortunately Neither Thule and Yakama show racks that are comparable with either MK2 or Mk3 TT's (so can't compare components to see if any differences).

Hi Chaos. Thanks for posting the drawings, but Audi have been quite careful to avoid dimensioning the roof in a like for like way, and where they have dimensioned it in the same place the dimensions on those two places are within millimetres of each other. I think I will try and make both drawings to the same scale and compare them on a lightbox. So thanks for the drawings. (Or try and buy the correct bars for my Mark 2 😄 )

I'm wondering if it's because the fitting brackets have L shaped slots for the pins on the Mark 3 rather than the U shaped slots for the pin fittings on the Mark 2

Simple solution. Check the part numbers. If they are the same the answer is YES. If they arent the same then NO they are not interchangeable !
