windscreen wiper linkage

Hi,

My windscreen wipers are stopping every now and again.. i priced a new linkage.. £40.51 but the garage i use says its gonna take 2hrs.. Which seems alot for what it is.. should i cancel fitting and try and do it myself.. i believe the hardest part is getting the windscreen wipers off, but the garage said they have a special tool to do this.. then its a few trims a couple of bolts to replace the linkage.. But the guy i spoke to was saying you have to set the motors, i felt like he was making it harder than it should be to justify £100 for fitting it.. last i heard garages didnt charge for wd40 doing a couple of hours labour!!

so am i right to feel a bit ripped off or is the garage charging me correct..

I'd do it myself mate. It's an easy job and yes, the garage is trying to bend you over :?

That's exactly what I thought. Just not so confident in the wiper arm coming off that's all. Don't know what to expect

When you remove the nut (or bolt can't quite remember), the arm is a very, very tight fit and I doubt you'll be able to pull it off by hand. I had to use a small 2 leg forged gear puller, couldn't get a heavier cast one in there. Hope this helps.
