I think it's obvious the car at Redline Specialist Cars is the same car the OP advertised in April and sold last week.
There can't be many (if any) other grey TTRS roadsters around with circa 12k miles without a rear spoiler that's for sure.
Was the car traded in? Possibly not.
Was it sold to a dealer who is now advertising it on their website? Highly likely imo. Unless the car was sold to this person wanting to buy it for his partner whose partner didn't like this particular car so this person sold it (for a loss I would imagine) a week later to Redline that is.
How much did it go for? We will never now but it didn't sell for the 54K as that's what Redline Specialist Cars are advertising it for right now that's for sure.
The OP said he got close to the 55k asking price and that would be around 54K in my mind.
Would a garage buy and sell a car for 1k (or even 2k) 'possible' profit? I'll let you guys make up your own mind on that which is why I made my previous posts / comments that I still stand by.
Why didn't I go to see it?
- The OP lives almost 4-5hrs drive from me but if everything was right, I would and have driven further than that for the right car.
- The asking price was way above market value from the research I've done. The OP has just confirmed that a valuation site valued the car at 44k (so my valuation of around 47k was actually higher). The OP wanted a price that he thought the car was worth though and he advertised it for that price which he had every right to do.
- I had hinted a few times in my posts about prices etc and that I was a cash buyer but the OP didn't reach out or respond to this information in any way regarding their thoughts to a possible price reduction.
- The car didn't have a rear spoiler (which I will be happy to retrofit for a car at the right price) which is an integral part of a TTRS (imo) that would cost circa 2k to fit.
- the car had done just 1300 miles below average according to AT (which I agree with) so wasn't amazing mileage for a 2023 TTRS roadster.
I guess 'we' all have an inkling when we think we've found the right car and all of the above was telling me this one just wasn't going to happen for me despite my heart telling me it was.
If I had even the slightest inclination that I could have bought this car for 47K ish I would have driven to see it despite it not being 'the perfect car for me' and would likely have driven it home.
As someone else on here has pointed out, a cars value is what someone else is willing to pay for it but at 55K plus 2K for a rear spoiler that person unfortunately wasn't me even though part of me really wanted it to be.
If it had 2k miles on the clock though even at that price and without a rear spoiler chances are it would be sitting on my driveway right now.
I hope the OP enjoys the electric MG. Its certainly gonna be different to a TTRS that's for sure!
In the mean time, my search will continue for my TTRS roadster Vorsprung. If only I liked red cars the one that sold earlier this year (also a 4-5hr drive away) was perfect in every way apart from the colour.
