I've been looking for a Vorsprung Roadster and have viewed 2 so far.

1. A 2020 with just under 30,00 miles that sold for 40K last year from a main Audi dealership. This was a nice example but the mileage was just too high for me.

2. A 2022 (72) with 6,794 miles that sold for £47,500 about 6 weds ago from a main VW dealer. This car was almost perfect but it was red and just couldn't see myself in a red convertible.

Both had the rear spoiler as well that would cost in excess of 1K to retrofit and is a must on this car for both me and the majority of others.

Just wondering where you got a price of 55K from as it seems very high especially selling privately ?

Car has 5 years Audi warranty and low mileage, thus private sale not really an issue? As you are aware, TT is no longer made and I anticipate will hold its price. If I don't sell then happy to keep for a few more years.

Rear spoiler is a matter of taste, I decided not to get one but appreciate (some) people prefer.

I could not actually find any 2022 Vorsprung Roadsters for sale when I looked, just checked again and nothing came up in my search.

As buyers don't have the same consumer protection when buying privately compared to buying from a garage (especially a main dealer) prices will almost always be cheaper when buying privately from my experience even if the car came with a warranty. A lot of people also want to buy using finance these days that private sellers cannot offer.

You're correct, the rear spoiler is definitely a matter of taste but it's also a signature of the styling which is why probably 95% of the TTR RS ever sold have them fitted.

You're also correct that there are currently no Vorsprung roadsters for sale 22 plate of otherwise. The red 22 plate Vorsprung I was referring to was sold circa 4 weeks ago. As I said it was perfect in every way (price, mileage etc) apart from the colour.

I'd be interested to hear what 'We Buy Any Car', 'Motorway' or 'Autotrader' value the car at?!?

I could be wrong, but I think the car is about 7K overpriced tbh (but am happy to be proved wrong) however I wish you good luck with the sale.

Went to see this yesterday.

Very nice 2020 car with only 14,00 miles for £44,600. Also had 2 years Audi warranty and the peace of mind of a full Audi pre sale inspection.

Couldn't get them quite down to the price I wanted to pay for it as it's a black car and I'm not sure I can have another black car again right after the one I already have.

Thanks. Very close to my asking price... The person who bought it had been looking for one for a while and wanted one without the rear spoiler.

So you sold it to a dealer then not a private individual who was looking for a while and wanted a TTRS without a rear spoiler! 🙈 😳
You just can't trust anyone these days. 😑

Can't imagine you got close to what you were asking for as the dealer is asking slight less than you had it advertised at and they would be looking to make 3-4K profit on a car of this value at the very least.

Such a shame, if you were willing to drop the price to a market value you could've sold it to another TT forum member.

How did you get those stains on the passenger seat? No wonder you didn't photograph the interior of the car when you advertised it. 😁

Hey Ho. Enjoy the MG although I can't imagine its going to be a patch on the TTRS.

Anything is possible, but in post 12 ademanuele states ... Very close to my asking price... The person who bought it had been looking for one for a while and wanted one without the rear spoiler.

This is clearly not the case as its now in a garage for very slightly less that it was advertised privately. It's a shame as Ive been looking for a grey TTRS Vorsprung for around 8 months. I guess I'll just have to be a little more patient.

Looks like everyone is coming to the same conclusion as me with regards to smelling some BS?!?

As the car was advertised for so long way above market value and the OP was ordering a new MG he probably wanted an easy way to move it on.

Redline have already reduced the car by £1000.
I reckon they probably didn't pay more than 47K max for it tbh.

I guess we will never know and it’s wrong to speculate but it’s so very sad that the car wasn’t kept in the family, so as to say.

I am a keen member on an audio forum where we do our best to keep items within the community, but it’s all about being sensible regards pricing and description, it’s what good faith and great forums are made of (like this TT forum)

I wish you luck with your search for the perfect RS Steve, I too am on a quest at the moment to move on from a MK 2 to a MK3 roadster and so far nothing near to what I want has reared its head, it’s all a game I guess and one that fills us with joy when the right vehicle comes along, makes it all the more special.

thanks happychappy.
It's a never ending quest to find the right car isn't it? All worth it in the end when you find the car though.
I have always done my best to keep anything I sell in great condition and am never happier when a fellow petrolhead buys something from me rather than an individual who just has a fancy form something.
Good luck with your search too, I'm hope you find something soon!

As with any trade in - The dealer buys the car.

They could offset elements of the PCP deal, current price, final value, or interest to make the deal seem more attractive.

For me the two week delivery suggests the car is already built, perhaps sitting in a compound deprecating, with MG being urged to shift units?

But who knows? For me though, anyone wanting the car should still have gone to see it.

Indeed, the Cyberster is in storage somewhere in Bristol and you can get a good deal if you are interested. In my case I bought the car in Stockport. I went for PCP to offset the risk of depreciation with an EV.

Had a look at the advert and looks very much like my car. The buyer claimed it was for his partner but who knows? The car did not have any stains on the seat. @Steve190, I did get more than £47k and I was more than happy with the sale price.

I think it's obvious the car at Redline Specialist Cars is the same car the OP advertised in April and sold last week.

There can't be many (if any) other grey TTRS roadsters around with circa 12k miles without a rear spoiler that's for sure.

Was the car traded in? Possibly not.
Was it sold to a dealer who is now advertising it on their website? Highly likely imo. Unless the car was sold to this person wanting to buy it for his partner whose partner didn't like this particular car so this person sold it (for a loss I would imagine) a week later to Redline that is.

How much did it go for? We will never now but it didn't sell for the 54K as that's what Redline Specialist Cars are advertising it for right now that's for sure.

The OP said he got close to the 55k asking price and that would be around 54K in my mind.
Would a garage buy and sell a car for 1k (or even 2k) 'possible' profit? I'll let you guys make up your own mind on that which is why I made my previous posts / comments that I still stand by.

Why didn't I go to see it?
  1. The OP lives almost 4-5hrs drive from me but if everything was right, I would and have driven further than that for the right car.
  2. The asking price was way above market value from the research I've done. The OP has just confirmed that a valuation site valued the car at 44k (so my valuation of around 47k was actually higher). The OP wanted a price that he thought the car was worth though and he advertised it for that price which he had every right to do.
  3. I had hinted a few times in my posts about prices etc and that I was a cash buyer but the OP didn't reach out or respond to this information in any way regarding their thoughts to a possible price reduction.
  4. The car didn't have a rear spoiler (which I will be happy to retrofit for a car at the right price) which is an integral part of a TTRS (imo) that would cost circa 2k to fit.
  5. the car had done just 1300 miles below average according to AT (which I agree with) so wasn't amazing mileage for a 2023 TTRS roadster.
I guess 'we' all have an inkling when we think we've found the right car and all of the above was telling me this one just wasn't going to happen for me despite my heart telling me it was.

If I had even the slightest inclination that I could have bought this car for 47K ish I would have driven to see it despite it not being 'the perfect car for me' and would likely have driven it home.

As someone else on here has pointed out, a cars value is what someone else is willing to pay for it but at 55K plus 2K for a rear spoiler that person unfortunately wasn't me even though part of me really wanted it to be.

If it had 2k miles on the clock though even at that price and without a rear spoiler chances are it would be sitting on my driveway right now.

I hope the OP enjoys the electric MG. Its certainly gonna be different to a TTRS that's for sure!

In the mean time, my search will continue for my TTRS roadster Vorsprung. If only I liked red cars the one that sold earlier this year (also a 4-5hr drive away) was perfect in every way apart from the colour.

What does it matter what price the car sold for?

I can accept you had an issue with the sellers price, believing it to be too high. But that is your opinion!

Comparing a car that you have not seen, to any other cars, which you may or may not have seen is unfair.

As someone else on here has pointed out, a cars value is what someone else is willing to pay for it but at 55K plus 2K for a rear spoiler that person unfortunately wasn't me even though part of me really wanted it to be.
100% the value is what someone is willing to pay, and someone now has.
The fixed spoiler removal is a NO COST option, the OP chose not to have it on this car. So he shouldn't need to reduce his price by £2K to allow for one to be fitted!

I had hinted a few times in my posts about prices etc and that I was a cash buyer but the OP didn't reach out or respond to this information in any way regarding their thoughts to a possible price reduction.
I suspect your original somewhat bullish posts increased the likelihood there would be no constructive dialogue between you.

  • buyers don't have the same consumer protection when buying privately compared to buying from a garage (especially a main dealer) prices will almost always be cheaper when buying privately.
  • from my experience even if the car came with a warranty.
  • A lot of people also want to buy using finance these days that private sellers cannot offer.
  • spoiler... ....a signature of the styling which is why probably 95% of the TTR RS ever sold have them fitted.
  • I could be wrong, but I think the car is about 7K overpriced tbh (but am happy to be proved wrong) however I wish you good luck with the sale.
You post clearly indicated you were not interested - but here we are, many posts later!

The car is now sold so any continuation of this thread is pointless.

I worry that the OP, who has been with us since 2015, will now perhaps be relived to be leaving the TT forum behind :(
