TTS Cosmetic & Performance Recommendations?

Hello TTF
I’ve just bought an 08 TTS and considering cosmetic changes, however I’m unsure of really where to start?
the cars currently got an aftermarket carbon fibre spoiler fitted, I’ve upgraded the head unit to a kenwood wireless CarPlay, it has stock heated leather seats, I’m looking into a window tint but unsure of what % visibility would sit best and keep it out of trouble (UK based)
Other features it came with:
Stage 2 Revo
5 spoke star alloys
Bose sound system
Acoustic parking system rear only
Ibis white, gloss finish
It also has floor lights when door opens but not sure if they’re meant to project anything because if they do it’s blank and looks mis shaped

any advice would be great

Oh now that’s a question and a half!

I always like the look of the honeycomb grill on Audi’s, but many will say that they are only for RS’s.

My ibis white roadster has a Maxton kit which I love for the TT, but not that practical if you use as a daily.

Fitted cruise control and dechroming mine at the moment, but here’s a taster

I’ll post more pictures soon

Forget the tints, can't do any % on windshield or front windows so pointless on a TT. If you have the puddle lights under the doors there should also be a marker light in the side of the door and footwell lights, if not then your puddle lights are aftermarket. Most add on ones are woeful but there are some oem Audi ones that will project even in daylight, think there are rings, Audi Sport or the S logo. They are more expensive than the normal aftermarket hobbies but well worth it.

Honeycomb grill is a good shout but again some cheaper options can look a bit naff, not really much else you can do without going full max power mode which is questionable.

Most important on a car like this is to check all your maintenance is up to date, especially with a stage 2. Check the cam follower has been done, its not part of normal servicing according to Audi but its £40 part that could save your engine from imploding, definitely needs doing if you're not absolutely certain it has been. 10 minute diy job. Check all the other usual suspects, haldex and dsg services (if fitted), fuel filter, pollen filter (another easy diy) and of course regular oil and filters, I do mine every 6K and it costs me around £45

Yeah I’ve actually got the honeycomb grill already haha, I’ve also recently just bought the insert for the central panel to replace the phone holder with the rubber insert as I saw in another thread and installed that yesterday
looking into cruise control currently but I think I’m best off looking into smaller things, such as checking my boot and door lights etc as I believe some of them may need a replacement, as well as the glovebox cd player has gone but this is also now my access point for the usb charger connected to the head unit

yeah I did a thorough check prior, luckily the car came with full history and has had the cams done, chain check, full service with filters, it does definitely need a new brake pad because they stated it had been done but I’ve got a lovely irritating squeak on my offside front which is seeming temperamental, but I’m positive it’s nothing grease related and 99% a new pad but that’s an easy fix.

I’ve looked across my whole exhaust line and air intakes etc and they all seem sturdy with no wear too luckily, think the only peeve I’ve got regarding that is at 70+ it can obviously have a bit extra noise if going up a gradient but I didn’t exactly buy a tts to be quiet 😂

Front brakes are easy, rears are a little more troublesome. Definitely look into the cam follower

I very nearly bought a white TTS last time, it was the best candidate until the Ltd Ed came up. Not generally a fan of white cars but something about a black on white TT does look good. The one I was looking at had a cream interior, leather and carpets, in a white car, pretty sure I would've regretted that.

Update:
Checked the cam follower, was recently sorted so I’m safe on that until around March I’d say
I’ve noticed a few other things though:
  • I discovered there’s a potential rogue screw in the boot, my assumption is from when the spoiler was potentially fitted, but it is doing my absolute head in even if it is temperamental, as I can hear it now and then when I go over a bump/have a harsh turn
  • I need to rehouse the wire underneath as it came out, luckily I noticed it so only the protective rubber was taken and the wires are intact and not frayed, done a temp fix for now until I get time to jack it up and get under
  • needs a new light on boot for the reg and in general, as well as puddle lights but they’re an easy fix
  • new brake pad on front still waiting to be done because I’ve been lazy watching the football
  • looking into going round the interior and making sure everything is tight incase the creaks are just because of potential boot cover being loose etc

Two screws in the hand hold of the boot lid trim and the rest of it is on clips, get used to Audi trim clips, you have to pull them until you think it’s going to snap in two and then pull some more and it will just pop off. It’s fine line between German quality and over engineering. Hopefully it’ll be in that bottom section because if you have to take the trim off around the glass it’s a mission, lots more of those clips and it’s very difficult to line back up due to how thin and flexible it is, definitely try to get a second pair of hands on it.
